Edyta Dudek

Edyta Dudek joined CRWG in 2014 and is currently a Women in Science and Engineering Director. She is committed to increasing the number of UIC majority and minority women students pursuing and graduating in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines, promoting their recruitment and retention. She leads WISE Peer Mentoring Program, where UIC female freshmen students are paired with upperclassmen. She engages WISE women in STEM outreach activities for pre-college students during events such as Expanding Your Horizons or Science Works at MSI.

 

She is an engineer and a teacher with a long term experience working with young people in STEM disciplines. While working at the Warsaw University of Technology she was involved in research and introduced computer programming to Structural Engineering students. After moving to US she was employed as a Structural Engineer in Pennsylvania and Minnesota, where she performed analysis and design of steel and reinforced concrete structures.

 

In addition to Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering, Ms. Dudek also holds a Master’s Degree in Math Education and a teaching license in Math for grades 6-12. She taught Math at high school level in Saint Paul and Minneapolis. As SciGirls Trainer-of-the-Trainers she provides workshops for Chicago professionals who teach STEM to pre-college girls. She is a founder and a leader of the Girls Who Code at UIC program and a Site Lead for Chicago 7-week GWC Summer Immersion Programs.
